Iran awaits more positive U.S. signs

BERLIN, March 6 (UPI) -- Iran has yet to receive more positive signs from the new Obama administration regarding changing hostile U.S. policies, an Iranian official said Friday.

Addressing a news conference at the Iranian Embassy in Berlin, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of Iran's foreign policy and national security committee, said he wanted to know more about the Iran policy of U.S. President Barack Obama, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

To hold negotiations without pre-conditions and to change its tone are "small signs but they are not enough," he said. "We are waiting to find out what Obama means by talking about change."

The United States has opposed Iran's uranium enrichment program, which Tehran says is for peaceful purposes and not to develop nuclear weaponry.
