UDINE, Italy, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The father of a woman who was the center of a right to die battle in Italy is one of 14 people under investigation in her death, Italian officials say.
The chief prosecutor in the case, Antonio Nancardi, says his office must investigate the Feb. 9 death of Eluana Englaro, 38, even if there is no evidence of any wrongdoing, Italy's ANSA news agency reported Friday.
A group calling itself the Truth and Life Committee has filed a 13-page suit against Englaro's father, Beppino, 67, and workers at the clinic where she died of cardio-respiratory failure four days after doctors removed her feeding tube in accordance with a landmark court ruling.
In addition to her father, authorities are investigating the anesthetist who led her medical team and 12 volunteers who helped look after her at the clinic in Udine.
Preliminary autopsy results didn't turn up any sign of foul play and results of toxicology tests won't be released until April 1, ANSA said.
