Source: N. Korea missile program advancing

SEOUL, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A South Korean intelligence source says North Korea has made advancements in its missile program to the point it can quickly expedite future missile tests.

The unidentified source said North Korea's missile technology has been improved to expedite the test-firing technical procedures in relation to its most advanced missile, the Yonhap News Agency said Thursday.

"They have tried to improve (the missile) for the last couple of years and we believe there has been improvement," the source said.

The source said the new North Korean technological advancements would likely result in quicker test-fire procedure times involving missiles like the long-range Taepodong-2.

While the source wouldn't specify what changes North Korea has implemented, Baek Seung-joo of the state-run Korean Institute for Defense Analyses had a theory.

"The North is likely to have revamped its technology related to the fuel storage and engine parts," the senior researcher at the Seoul facility told Yonhap.
