ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus was in Pakistan Tuesday to discuss security in the region and the on-going war on terror, Pakistani officials said.

Petraeus, making his second visit to Pakistan since he was appointed head of the U.S. Central Command last year, was to meet several Pakistani political and military leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani during the two-day visit, officials told the Press Trust of India.

Besides cooperation in the war on terror and regional tensions heightened by November's Mumbai attacks, Petraeus was expected to discus the situation in Afghanistan and increasing the capacity of Pakistani security, as well as U.S. unmanned missile strikes in tribal regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
