Rough water likely caused ferry to capsize

JAKARTA, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Authorities in Indonesia say rough waves and not overloading likely caused a a ferry to capsize and sink off the coast of West Sulawesi.

Twenty people were rescued and more than 200 remained missing after the ferry KM Teratai Prima Kosong capsized Saturday, The Jakarta Post reported Monday.

The ferry was built to carry 300 people and had 250 passengers and 17 crew members aboard when it capsized, said transportation authorities.

Police had yet to question the ferry's captain, who managed to swim to shore, The Post reported.
