Three Afghan cops slain by bomb blast

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Three Afghan police officers were killed Sunday by hidden explosives in the southern city of Kandahar, officials said.

The bomb was concealed in a wooden cart and detonated when police drove by, the BBC reported Afghan officials saying. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which injured 12 others, including five police officers.

Three Canadian soldiers were killed Saturday in Kandahar when their armored vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb.
