Bus crash kills at least 53 in Egypt

CAIRO, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- At least 53 people were killed Sunday when a bus plunged into a canal south of Cairo near the Egyptian village of Dahrut, officials said.

Sky News reported the bus swerved off the road to avoid a collision with an oncoming truck while traveling to Cairo from the southern city of Minya. The bus crashed into the Ibrahimiya canal, one the largest irrigation canals in the world.
