MOSCOW, July 29 (UPI) -- A Russian pilot died Tuesday when the fighter jet he was flying crashed in the Primorye Territory, a Russian air force spokesman said.

The $35 million Su-27 Flanker air superiority fighter crashed while conducting a routine training flight about seven miles north of Ussuriisk, reported RIA Novosti, the Russian news agency.

"One of the pilots was killed and the other survived the crash," Lt. Col. Vladimir Drik said.

The Su-27 Flanker and the Su-30 Flanker C account for a major share of Russia's arms exports, RIA Novosti said.
