Obama releases first TV ad

WASHINGTON, June 19 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., Thursday released his first general-election television ad, which highlights his upbringing in a single-parent home.

The "Country I Love" ad, which the campaign says re-introduces Obama to the general election electorate, is scheduled to run in 18 states, The Hill reported.

In a statement accompanying the ad, Obama's campaign said the ad discusses core values and how they guided the presumptive Democratic nominee throughout his life, the Washington publication said.

The coverage area includes much of the Mountain West and Midwest, North Carolina, Alaska, Georgia and Virginia, Obama's campaign said. It also will be aired in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Florida.
