Inquiry looks at 'clinic of horrors'

MILAN, Italy, June 12 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in Milan, Italy, delved deeper Thursday into events at a Milanese private clinic where doctors are suspected of killing at least five patients.

Judicial sources told ANSA that investigators were looking into another 20 "suspect" deaths at the Santa Rita clinic, which the media calls the ''clinic of horrors.''

Two doctors jailed on charges of murder are also accused of causing ''harm or serious harm'' to another 86 patients between 2005 and 2006.

Eleven other doctors and the owner of the clinic were placed under house arrest for their alleged role in performing unnecessary, lucrative operations.
