Quebec police try to link body, road crash

MONTREAL, April 8 (UPI) -- Quebec police said Tuesday they were trying to determine if a woman's body found on a highway was related to a deadly head-on crash more than a mile away.

Police made a public appeal for witnesses to the events on Monday afternoon on Highway 348 in St-Gabriel de Brandon, 70 miles north of Montreal, The Gazette newspaper said.

A badly injured 42-year-old local woman who wasn't identified was found beside the highway, and died soon afterward, police said.

Soon after, a blue Ford Econoline van collided head-on with a minivan about a mile and a half away. Two elderly people in the van were killed, while the minivan driver remained in serious condition Tuesday.

Police spokeswoman Joyce Kemp told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., officers were trying to determine if the woman found on the road jumped from, or was pushed out of the Ford van before the crash.
