JERUSALEM, April 4 (UPI) -- The senior aide to Israeli Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter was wounded by a sniper Friday while escorting a visiting group outside Gaza, officials said.
Mati Gil, 30, of Jerusalem was shot in the groin as he helped lead a group of Canadian Jews on a Gaza tour.

The Palestinian "Army of the Umma," linked to al-Qaida, claimed the attack, DEBKAfile reported.
