Britain: Easter 'horrendous' for drivers

LONDON, March 23 (UPI) -- Britain had a snowy Easter Sunday after storms moved south over most of the region, making road conditions "horrendous" for drivers, a published report said.

Motorists were warned to stay off the roads as storms disrupted commutes in Northeast England, Yorkshire and Staffordshire, the areas most affected by storms, The Mail on Sunday reported.

"There is no sign of spring out there, to be honest," Met Office forecaster Chris Almond said.

Conditions are expected to persist and continue to affect road travel through Monday, partially because many snow removal vehicles weren't able to handle conditions.

This Easter has ushered in the most severe weather Britain has experienced in 25 years, the newspaper said.
