LOS ANGELES, March 13 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles assistant school principal charged with molesting a student had been involved in similar allegations at another school, reports said.
The assistant principal, Steve Thomas Rooney, 39, allegedly molested a student at Markham Middle School where he was charged with five counts of forcible lewd acts on a child, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday.
He was accused of sexually assaulting the 13-year-old girl March 1 and on at least one other occasion.
A year earlier, police said, Rooney was investigated on suspicion of statutory rape of a 17-year-old student at another school. The case reportedly came to light after Rooney allegedly pulled a gun on the girl's stepfather.
However, he was never charged though he was removed from the school.
