British sportscaster attacked in Russia

MOSCOW, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A British television sports announcer for Today Russia was hospitalized in Moscow after attackers beat him on the head and took his money, authorities said.

Neil Harvey, 32, an English-language channel employee, was attacked near the Orekhovo metro station after he left a companion's apartment, The Moscow Times reported.

He was hit on the head approximately 20 times before his attackers took his cash and fled, the report said. Medical experts reportedly told Harvey he should stay in the hospital for a minimum of 21 days.

"I saw a mirror and couldn't recognize myself. My head was twice as large as it normally is," Harvey told the Times.
