PERUGIA , Italy, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The medical examination of a British university exchange student slain in Perugia, Italy, determined she had not been raped before she died.
Dr. Luca Lalli said in a report that he did not discover "external traumatic signs which would indicate carnal abuse," during the examination of Meredith Kercher, 22, ANSA reported Wednesday.
Lalli reportedly did not discount the possibility she was coerced into intercourse and said "a sexual act did take place or was attempted" within minutes or hours prior to her death.
Kercher was discovered in her Perugia home Nov. 2, 2007, with a gash to her throat, the report said.
Kercher's roommate, American Amanda Marie Knox, 20, Knox's Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, 24, and Rudy Hermann Guede, 21, of Ivory Coast reportedly were being held as suspects.
A December 2007 police report said evidence for the case, "proved a direct relationship between the suspects and the victim and the presence of the suspects in the apartment at the time of the attack on Meredith."
