Tainted pasta blamed for sickening 29

MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- An estimated 29 people -- mostly high school students -- sought medical care in the Philippines after possibly falling victim to food poisoning.

The Manila Times said Saturday that after eating food at the students' annual Senior's Night celebration in Mandaluyong City, about 27 senior students were taken to area medical facilities for treatment along with a school adviser and another employee.

The students reportedly had eaten pasta cooked by a private caterer prior to feeling ill, leading their principal to suspect food poisoning and threaten a lawsuit.

The Manila Times said the students all experienced severe stomach pains and dizziness, but doctors later said they were not in any imminent danger.
