The Independent said Saturday that 30-year-old Ian Strachan was refused bail by the presiding judge and will now have to be jailed until he appears in court in December alongside fellow blackmail suspect, Sean McGuigan.

The pair has been accused of attempting to blackmail an unidentified member of the British royal family.

The British newspaper said that due to legal reasons, the name of the targeted royal has not been released.

The unidentified royal, who reportedly is not a senior family member, contacted police after being contacted by the alleged blackmailers.

The same royal family member has denied the accusations made in the alleged act of blackmail.

Members of the media were initially not to be allowed into Friday's hearing, but were allowed access after legal action was taken on the part of several media groups.
