Ex-faculty sue Oral Roberts president

TULSA, Okla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Three former Oral Roberts University professors in Tulsa, Okla., are suing the school's president, alleging financial, political and personal issues.

The suit accuses President Richard Roberts, whose father founded the Christian university, of offenses including illegally using students to campaign for a Republican mayoral candidate, remodeling his on-campus house 11 times in 14 years and using the university jet for family trips, The New York Times reported Thursday.

The former professors also claim the Roberts family's university-paid cell phones were used to send communications via text message to "underage males -- often between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m."

The plaintiffs said "some of the more salacious entries" were omitted from the suit “to preserve, as much as possible, the remaining positive image of the university.”

Roberts, during a Tuesday appearance on CNN's “Larry King Live,” denied any political wrongdoing during the mayoral campaign.

"I didn’t ask or coerce anybody. That’s not true," he said.
