KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide attack Saturday that killed one solider and at least five civilians in Afghanistan.

The two-vehicle armored convoy was rammed by a mini-van loaded with bombs near the airport in Kabul, the BBC reported. The soldier's name and nationality was not released.

It was the third suicide bombing in Kabul in eight days. The Taliban claimed responsibility for all three bombings, the BBC said.

More than 40 people were killed in the two previous attacks when suicide bombers attacked buses.

The attacks were planned to coincide with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Taliban spokesmen said.
