HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., Sept. 24 (UPI) -- A volunteer firefighter in Havre de Grace, Md., is being held on charges that he allegedly helped firebomb the town's library just to help put out the blaze.

Daniel Woodrow Ramsey Jr., 28, faces charges of possession of a destructive device and conspiracy to commit arson for the Aug. 22 incident.

A 17-year-old boy was also charged but his case had been referred to the state Department of Juvenile Services, the Baltimore Sun reported Monday.

Ramsey had been a probationary volunteer for the past six months with the Susquehanna Hose Company in Havre de Grace when the incident took place, Deputy State Fire Marshal Joseph G. Zurolo Jr., told the Sun.

Zurolo added that investigators believe that Ramsey "was trying to cause work so he would be able to help and put the fire out."

The fire caused about $17,000 in damage at the Havre de Grace Library.
