Evangelist Graham hospitalized

Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Evangelist Billy Graham was hospitalized in North Carolina Saturday with internal bleeding.

Doctors for the prominent 88-year-old Christian minister said his intestinal bleeding did not appear life threatening, WSPA-TV in Asheville said. Graham, who was at Mission Health & Hospitals in Asheville, was stable and in fair condition.

The bleeding possibly came from diverticuli, which are small patches that can form in the lower intestine and cause bleeding that can start suddenly and end on its own, the TV station said.

Graham, whose wife Ruth died June 14, was said to be alert and visiting with family members, the TV station said.
