BUFFALO, N.Y., July 16 (UPI) -- A Buffalo, N.Y., man suffered broken ribs, skin abrasions and a punctured lung when he was attacked and beaten with his own prosthetic leg.
Richard Kelly was listed in stable condition after he was attacked by four young men Saturday. He credits divine intervention with his survival, the Buffalo News reported Monday.
"Through the grace of God, I'm doing OK," Kelly said.
"I'm hurting," he said of the injuries. "I don't know how long it will take to recover."
"It's a sad thing for people to beat a man like that, with one leg," said Darryl Kelly, the victim's younger brother. "They tried to kill him, and I hope there's an arrest."
Darryl Kelly agreed with his brother that a higher power helped him survive.
"God was with him. A beating like that, he should not have made it," he said.
No charges have been filed and police say Kelly is not cooperating with the investigation.
