Couple given 10 days to move their kids

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- A young couple living in a Florida senior citizens condominium community has been given 10 days to get their two children out.

Christine and Nathan Clock got written permission to continue to live in their unit when Christine Clock first became pregnant three years ago, The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. The couple settled in Hawaiian Gardens in Lauderdale Lakes, after moving from Connecticut to be closer to Christine Clock's parents, who lived in the condo and were both on the board.

Under Florida law, a condominium can qualify as senior citizen if 80 percent of the units have at least one resident older than 55.

Experts say the Clocks may not be able to remain in Hawaiian Gardens permanently. But they say they are almost certain to get a longer time to find another place to live.

"I don't think any judge in the world would force them out in 10 days," said Blane Carneal, a local lawyer. "You couldn't foreclose on a house in 10 days. You can't evict a tenant in 10 days."
