Boy found in hospital parking lot

NEWARK, Del., June 11 (UPI) -- Police in Delaware said Monday a young boy found in a hospital parking lot had a note giving a name for him and saying he was being abandoned.

Investigators were trying to trace the toddler's parents or other relatives and did not want to release details of the note, The (Wilmington) News Journal reported.

Marissa Walls, a nurse at Christiana Hospital in Newark, found the boy on Saturday when she returned from lunch. She said he was screaming and crying when she first spotted him but cheered up when she took his hand.

He was wearing a T-shirt that said "Proud To Be Adorable" and those who examined him said he was clean, well-cared-for and not hungry. His clothes were in good shape although he was barefoot.

Police say the boy appears to be between a year and 18 months old and cannot talk well enough to give any coherent account of himself or his family. He is being cared for by a foster family.
