Japan earthquake causes no damage

TOKYO, June 2 (UPI) -- A fairly strong earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale rattled a wide area of Japan Saturday afternoon.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warnings were generated by the shaker, which was centered off the coast of the northern prefectures of Tochigi and Ibaraki.

The Mainichi Daily News said the quake did not cause any damage or injuries. Media reports said it was felt as far away as Tokyo.
