India's serial killer in custody

NEW DELHI, May 21 (UPI) -- Indian police have arrested New Delhi's alleged "Nunchaku" serial killer, who liked to dump his victims in front of the city's main jail.

Police said Chandrakant Jha's alleged victims included one he thought had betrayed him. Another was allegedly killed for being a womanizer and a third allegedly for liking non-vegetarian food, the Press Trust of India reported.

Police said Jha, 40, had confessed to killing six people in four years. They said he allegedly dumped some of his victims in front of the Tihar Jail to vent his anger at police, claiming he had been mistreated while in prison on a murder charge.

He was arrested Saturday near Delhi. A manhunt was launched after police found a headless body outside the jail the previous day, PTI reported.

"Jha used to get annoyed with his associates on petty matters. Initially, he gave total protection to them and won their confidence. But during their stay with him he took offense to their behavior like drinking, eating meat, womanizing, etc.," a senior police official told reporters.

Police accused Jha of first tying his victim's hands, then strangling them with the martial arts weapon, the Nunchaku, before chopping of the head and limbs.
