Arab Parliament plans May sessions

CAIRO, March 11 (UPI) -- The president of the Arab Parliament said Sunday the body's first sessions of 2007 will be in the name of "the defense of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Mohammad Jasem Al Saqr, president of the Interim Arab Parliamentary Union, said remaining issues on the parliament's agenda will be completed when the session resumes in May, the Kuwait news agency KUNA reported.

Saqr, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Kuwait's parliament, told reporters in Cairo that the Palestinian issue remains at the core of the Arab-Israeli conflict for Arab people and he repeated the Arab Parliament's demand that Israel release Palestinian detainees, KUNA reported.

Saqr announced that the Arab League, the Arab Parliamentary Union and the Women's Committee of the Kuwaiti National Assembly will hold a conference on Arab women in Kuwait, KUNA said.
