France arrests Serbs smuggling explosives

PARIS, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- French police arrested two Serbs on suspicion of smuggling 9 pounds of military explosives into Paris, Belgrade media reported Wednesday.

French police confiscated the explosives called pentrit last week in a northern Paris district where buses arriving from Serbia are parked, Belgrade's Beta news agency reported.

In Belgrade, an official at the Serbian Interior Ministry said police uncovered 15.5 pounds of pentrit in a Belgrade apartment.

Police in Paris and Belgrade were investigating the origins and movement of the explosives, the agency said.
