DWI charge for N.Y. lt. governor's son

ALBANY, N.Y., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- The 18-year-old son of New York's lieutenant governor has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The arrest of Justin Donohue is the second time that Mary Donohue's children have been in trouble for substance abuse, The New York Post reported Thursday. Her daughter, then 19, was charged with marijuana possession and speeding in 1998.

Justin Donohue's blood alcohol level tested at twice the legal limit after he drove his father's BMW into a ditch Tuesday, police reports said. He has a court date on Dec. 13 in Brunswick.

In a statement, the lieutenant governor called the arrest "a very serious matter that will be answered in court and handled privately by the family.

"He is deeply sorry, and we are grateful that nobody was harmed due to his actions," the statement added.
