MANILA, Philippines, July 25 (UPI) -- Heavy rains from Typhoon Kaemi flooded parts of central Manila in the Philippines, forcing school closures.
The typhoon never made landfall in the Philippines and weakened into a tropical storm after crossing southern Taiwan, the Manila Times reported.

The newspapers said authorities evacuated 50 families from the villages of Tugatog and Veinte Reales, 30 from Malinta and 20 from Pasolo.
