HUNTSVILLE, Texas, June 20 (UPI) -- Texas executed death row inmate Lamont Reese Tuesday evening after the federal courts refused a request for a stay, KWTX-TV said.
Reese's attorneys had challenged the constitutionality of the lethal injection drugs, pointing to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last week in a Florida case that said such appeals could be heard.

But the U.S. Supreme Court refused a stay before Reese's execution.
Reese was convicted of the killings of two men and a teenager in Forth Worth in 1999 after an argument involving the treatment of his girlfriend.
Reese was the 12th Texas inmate executed this year, the station said.
