Bush: 'Sing anthem in English'

WASHINGTON, April 28 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush Friday said "The Star-Spangled Banner" should be sung in English.

Bush's comment at a White House press conference followed this week's Spanish-language version of the anthem that promoters tout as a way for Spanish-speaking immigrants to show their patriotism.

"I think the National Anthem ought to be sung in English. And I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the National Anthem in English," Bush said.
