Cuba marks anniversary of Bay of Pigs

HAVANA, April 20 (UPI) -- Cuba has marked the 45th anniversary of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, Granma newspaper reported Thursday.

In a ceremony led by President Fidel Castro, revelers recalled how in 1961, the Cuban army defeated some 1,500 CIA-trained Cuban exiles intent on overthrowing the island's communist regime.

Castro said in his speech that the Bay of Pigs invasion was along the same lines as the U.S. aggression in the Middle East.
