Young man acquitted of videotape rape

CHICAGO, March 4 (UPI) -- A young Illinois man has become the second person acquitted of gang-raping a 16-year-old girl during a drunken party.

A videotape of the alleged assault was apparently critical to the verdict on Adrian Missbrenner of Burr Ridge, a wealthy Chicago suburb, the Chicago Tribune reported.

While reporters were not allowed to view the tape, a defense lawyer, Patrick Campanelli, in his final argument to the jury said that the girl's actions on the tape showed that the sex was consensual.

"She puts her hands on Adrian's head, rubbing his head," he said. "That looks like consent to me."

Prosecutors argued that Missbrenner and others at the party at his family's home took advantage of the girl when she was drunk. In addition to showing Missbrenner and another defendant, Burim Bezeri, having sex with the girl, it showed the two of them and other guests spitting on her and writing on her body.
