Gunman opens fire at India science meeting

BANGALORE, India, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Police have set up checkpoints across Bangalore, India, after a gunman attacked a science conference there, killing one person.

The BBC reports Professor MC Puri of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi died and three others were injured Wednesday at the Indian Institute of Science.

The institute is one of India's top postgraduate colleges.

Police said an official-looking car pulled up, a man got out and opened fire, and the car took off.

An emergency ministers meeting is set for Thursday.

No motive or suspects have been identified but terrorism has not been ruled out.
