About 1,000 activists marched through the streets of Moscow shouting slogans and carrying placards that read: "Russia for the Russians", "Glory to Russia" and "Out with Illegal Migrants."

Activists of the liberal youth movement Oborona attacked the group with water-filled condoms as they marched through the city, Ekho Moskvy radio reported.

Police forced the Oborona activists down a side-street while the march continued as planned.
