EC employees face brothel allegations

BRUSSELS, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The revelation that a brothel is allegedly tied to two European Commission employees has caused embarrassment for authorities in Brussels.

The hotel in Brussels allegedly rents rooms by the hour to prostitutes and their clients, reported the Sunday Telegraph.

The EC associates, currently under investigation, face charges of breaching the commission's employee statute, which says that outside activities must be "compatible with the interests of the institution."

Under a statute, EC employees must obtain permission before engaging in any outside activity.
