SRINIGAR, India, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- At least five Indian soldiers died and four were critically injured in an attack Saturday on a convoy in Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir police say that a group of suspected separatist militants carrying automatic weapons also armed with grenades ambushed the convoy about 25 miles south of Srinigar, CNN reported.

The attackers were holed up in a house next to the Srinigar-Jammu highway in the village of Awantipora.
While relations between India and Pakistan have thawed recently, Kashmir remains disputed territory.
