Spain offers condolences to UK

MADRID, July 7 (UPI) -- Spain offered its condolences to Britain following Thursday's deadly bombing attacks in London and ratcheted up its own terror security alert.

Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero offered Spain's "unconditional help and full support for Britain to help chase the criminals who perpetrated such a repugnant attack ..."

Spain's Interior Ministry announced it had also raised its terror alert to its maximum level following the bombings in London that have claimed at least 33 lives.

Last year Spain was the target of a terror attack on its own subway system that killed 191 people.
