Tyco lawyer will be Gonzales' deputy

WASHINGTON, May 24 (UPI) -- The White House Tuesday announced the general counsel for controversial firm Tyco International will be nominated to become deputy U.S. attorney general.

Timothy Flanigan is currently senior vice president and general counsel for corporate and international affairs for Tyco.

He previously served as deputy counsel at the White House. Before going to work for the Bush administration, Flanigan was a partner in the law firm of White & Case, LLP.

Previously, he served as an assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel.

Flanigan earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and attended law school at the University of Virginia.
