Good Samaritan suffers stab wounds

NEW WESTMINSTER, British Columbia, April 6 (UPI) -- A passerby in New Westminster, Canada, who attempted to break up a fight between two alleged drug dealers was recovering Wednesday from stab wounds.

The 18-year-old Good Samaritan was stabbed twice in his back, puncturing a lung, when he tried to stop the fight outside the New Westminster SkyTrain station Monday.

"My advice in these types of situations is you don't get involved in somebody else's fight," New Westminster Police Staff-Sgt. Casey Dehaas told the Vancouver (B.C.) Province. "These young people now, they're carrying weapons. They're carrying knives, they're carrying guns. And you get involved for what? You're going to end up stabbed and dying for what?

The alleged perpetrators fled in a car, but witnesses noted the license plate number and police stopped the car within minutes. Four passengers were arrested, and one 16-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault and assault.
