Police: no motive known for Wis. shooting

BROOKFIELD, Wis., March 13 (UPI) -- Police said Sunday they have not yet discovered a motive for Saturday's fatal shooting at a Wisconsin church service, CNN reported.

Terry Ratzmann opened fire inside the Living Church of God at a Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield, killing seven people and then himself, police said.

Police have not found a suicide note, and there was nothing in Ratzmann's background "that would jump out, as to why he would have done this," said Brookfield police Capt. Phil Horter.

Relatives told authorities Ratzmann's employment might be "coming to an end, or was scheduled to end, in the very near future," Horter said. Ratzmann also reportedly became angry at something said during a sermon two weeks prior to the shooting.

Ratzmann was one of five people pronounced dead at the scene. Three others died later at a hospital.
