AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- An Ohio energy services salesman pleaded guilty Friday to racketeering in a complex bribery scheme, the Justice Department said.
Brent Jividen of Medina entered a guilty plea at federal court in Akron to a RICO charge, the lead count of a 45-count indictment, and agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors.
Also charged in the case are Cleveland businessman Nate Gray; Monique McGilbra, former director of the Building Services Department in Houston; Gilbert Jackson, a New Orleans businessman; Cleveland City Councilman Joseph Jones, and Cleveland attorney Ricardo Teamor.
The indictment said Jividen, while employed as a salesman by Honeywell Inc., conspired with Gray and Jackson to bribe McGilbra for a contract to provide energy services to the City of Houston.
Gray sought technically complex engineering and energy-savings contracts for such national firms as Honeywell, CH2M Hill and Camp, Dresser & McKee.
Former Houston mayoral chief of staff Oliver Spellman pleaded guilty in December to accepting bribes from Gray.
