Robert Kennedy Jr. may seek New York post

ALBANY, N.Y., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of the assassinated Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, is considering a run for New York attorney general next year.

Kennedy's father was U.S. attorney general when he was shot June 5, 1968, at Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel shortly after claiming victory in California's Democratic presidential primary.

If Kennedy were to seek the office now held by Eliot Spitzer, he could face his estranged brother-in-law, former U.S. Housing Secretary Andrew Cuomo, also expected to run for the job, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Cuomo, who is getting a divorce from Kennedy's sister, Kerry, failed to get the Democratic nomination for governor in 2002.

Others expected to seek the office are former Public Advocate Mark Green, Assemblymen Richard Brodsky of Westchester, Michael Gianaris of Queens and party activist Charlie King.
