Experts: S. Korea headed towards recession

SEOUL, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Experts have warned that South Korea's economy may be headed towards a recession, the Korea Times reported Sunday.

A report by economist group Deutsche Securities has said South Korea may experience a recession due to sluggish domestic demand and export slowdown.

An economy is considered in recession when it contacts for two consecutive quarters, the Korea Times said.

An analyst for the firm, Steve Marvin, said the government's pump-priming measures and credit-easing campaign were not enough to stop the consumer sentiment index hit rock bottom in November.
