Wife kills husband with minivan

PALMER, Mass., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Neighbors looked on as a Massachusetts woman killed her husband by running over him five times with a minivan after he abandoned her on a fishing trip.

Starleen Rutkowski, 46, allegedly taped a confession for police admitting she killed her husband, Richard, for leaving her alone at a local pond. She is being held without bail.

"The third time she ran over him it was like she was hitting a rag doll. It was like he wasn't even a human being anymore," neighbor Gloria Kimbell told the Boston Herald.

"Yeah, you saw me running him over, but you don't know the whole story," Hampden County prosecutor Timothy Rogers quoted Rutkowski as saying.

When Richard Rutkowski came home to find his wife had thrown his belongings out of their third-story apartment window, he erupted into laughter -- and his wife erupted in rage. The altercation quickly moved to the parking lot, where Starleen struck her husband to the ground with her white 1999 Dodge Caravan.

"I saw her hit him five more times. When she didn't hit him going backwards, she would go forward. It was awful," Kimbell said.
