Two convicted in cruel drug scam

NORWICH, England, July 21 (UPI) -- A British court Wednesday found two men guilty of plot attempting to smuggle cocaine by surgically implanting packets of the drug inside two dogs.

Gregory Graham and Kaye Chapman apparently planned to smuggle nearly three pounds of cocaine from the Netherlands by hiding the drug inside the stomachs of golden Labrador Rex and black Labrador Frispa, Sky News reported.

But officials at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport alerted veterinarians when they saw Frispa in poor condition.

The vets removed 11 packets of cocaine from Rex and 10 from Frispa, but one of the bags inside Frispa had burst and she later died, the report said.
