Deadly robbery spree broken in Chicago

CHICAGO, July 5 (UPI) -- Chicago police had two female 26-year-old cousins in custody Monday facing four murder charges in a 6-week robbery spree, the Chicago Tribune said.

Caroline Peoples and Angel Ford-Wright were each charged with four counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Police officials said they do not know if one or both of the women participated in the killings, but said both women were present at each slaying.

No weapon has been recovered and no witnesses have stepped forward, Calumet Area Homicide Detective William Filipiak said. He said both women have given videotaped statements implicating themselves in the crimes.

Three of the victims found between May 23 and July 1 knew one or both of the suspects.

Police said the least amount of money taken was $30, and the most was $200.

The two women were scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
