Kerry campaigns with Illinois' Obama

CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., campaigned Friday in Chicago with Illinois U.S. Senate candidate, Democrat Barack Obama.

"This campaign is about change -- it's about putting Americans back to work and putting America back on track," Kerry said.

Kerry toured Chicago's Greater West Town Training Partnership, his final stop on a two-day trip through the Midwest. Friday's visit also capped a week of focusing on the economy and what the campaign said is President Bush's fiscal "recklessness." He unveiled the second part of his economic plan Wednesday in Washington, which he said would boost spending for education and healthcare while at the same time provide a tax cut to 98 percent of Americans.

Obama underscored Kerry's message Friday, telling listeners, "By restoring fiscal discipline and the right priorities in Washington, we can reduce the deficit and make critical investments in our future -- like fully funding our schools and job training for those who need it."
